Olivos del Sur Awarded in New York for O-Live & Co Brand
Central Chilean producer Olivos del Sur has won a Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
It's always a great feeling to win in New York. It shows a commitment between us and our customers, delivering to them the best extra virgin olive oil.
Claudio Lovazzano, marketing manager
The company, one of Chile's largest olive oil producers, earned its third-consecutive NYIOOC award for its O-Live & Co brand, a medium blend. The brand previously earned a Silver Award in 2021 and Gold Awad in 2020.
"It's always a great feeling to win in New York," said Claudio Lovazzano, the company's marketing manager. "It shows a commitment between us and our customers, delivering to them the best extra virgin olive oil and highest quality, and this is only part of our mission."
In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 2.7 million liters of extra virgin olive oil using mechanical methods.
Lovazzano said the global supply chain crisis and drought provided plenty of challenges this season.
"Some of the main challenges have to do with the consistent increase in the price of raw materials worldwide, a very intense drought (more than 10 years) and, of course, an always very challenging harvest to keep up the yield," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
