Archidamo III Awarded for Organic Blends
Italian producer Archidamo III has won two awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Winning this prize once again makes us happy and proud, but above all, it represents a wonderful recognition of traditional Apulian olive growing, from which our two blends originate.

The Puglia-based company earned two Gold Awards for an organic delicate blend and an organic medium blend. Both brands previously earned Silver Awards in 2021 and Gold Awards in 2022.
"Winning this prize once again makes us happy and proud, but above all, it represents a wonderful recognition of traditional Apulian olive growing, from which our two blends originate," co-owner Ernest Buondonno said.
In the 2022/23 crop year, using machine methods, Archidamo III produced two tons of extra virgin olive oil from Coratina, Leccino, Ogliarola and Cellina di Nardò olives. The spread of the deadly olive tree pathogen, Xylella fastidiosa, remained the biggest challenge for Buondonno.
"One of the main challenges we are engaged in is to preserve the biodiversity of our territories by protecting the centuries-old olive trees from the Xylella fastidiosa epidemic, which is still ongoing in Apulia," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
