Azienda Olivicola Petrazzuoli from Italy has won its fourth-straight award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
I am happy to have won the Gold Award in New York for the fourth consecutive year.

The Campania-based producer earned a Gold Award for its Fontano Lupo brand, a medium blend of Frantoio, Ortice and Caiazzana olives. The brand previously earned Gold in each of the previous three years.
"I am happy to have won the Gold Award in New York for the fourth consecutive year," owner Giovanni Petrazzuoli said.
"Already last year, with three awards, the municipality of Ruviano, where I was born, awarded me for bringing prestige to the city," he added. "I dedicate these awards to my parents for teaching me that: 'You put olive seedlings because while you sleep, they grow.'"
In the 2022/23 crop year, Azienda Olivicola Petrazzuoli produced five tons of extra virgin olive oil. Petrazzuoli said climate change remained his most significant obstacle.
"Climate change is becoming more and more evident," he said. "Among the most serious problems we have had to face has been the drought and scorching heat."
"Fortunately, on my land, I have spring water that I can channel and store in cisterns, but I think this has created many problems for many farmers," Petrazzuoli added. "In spite of everything, we produced a very good product."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
