Archidamo III Awarded for Traditional Blends
Italian producer Archidamo III has won two Gold Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are very happy to win these awards, which reward our efforts and promote agriculture of excellence, and value environmental protection, agricultural landscapes and biodiversity.

Situated in Puglia, Italy's largest olive oil-producing region, the company earned the two awards for a pair of organic medium blends.
"We are very happy to win these awards, which reward our efforts and promote agriculture of excellence, and value environmental protection, agricultural landscapes and biodiversity," co-owner Ernesto Maria Buondonno said.
"This competition creates awareness among consumers about the meaning of quality production and the benefits that derive from it," he added.
In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 6,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from Coratina, Leccino, Ogliarola and Cellina di Nardò olives using traditional methods.
"This year, the production was of good quality, as in past years," Buondonno said. "The real problem to be faced in Puglia is the serious advance of the Xylella fastidiosa, which has already decimated many centuries-old olive groves in the southernmost areas."
"That's why we're planting young trees to face the irreversible transformation of the agricultural landscape in Puglia," he added.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
