Tiger Power earned two Gold Awards for its 1629 brand, a medium Chetoui, and its 1629 Organic brand, an organic medium Chemlali. The company also earned a Silver Award for its 1629 Superior Category brand, a medium Chemlali.
"We are eye-wateringly excitedly by the result this year," owner Tiger Kong said. "From one Gold Award in 2022 to two Gold Awards and a Silver Award at the 2023 NYIOOC."
"Our hard work really paid off, and it's with sincerity that we thank our team, our farmers and our loyal customers for their dedication and support," Kong added.
Despite the company's success, Kong said climate change remained the company's most significant challenge in producing award-winning olive oil.
"With climate change becoming a more persistent aspect of everyday life, the consequences for olive oil look set to grow worse," Kog said. "At the same time, the economic crisis has lowered the power purchasing of olive oil consumers."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
