Antico Poggiolo Celebrates NYIOOC Success

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Antico Poggiolo from Italy has a second-straight award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The Tuscan producer earned a second-consecutive Gold Award for its organic medium blend of Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo olives. "We are very proud to receive the Gold Award," owner Stefano Innocenti said.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Antico Poggiolo produced 2,200 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

Innocenti said this year's award was even more gratifying after the producer faced a challenging harvest due to the ongoing drought in Tuscany.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
