Terraverne Awarded for 555 Arbequina Brand

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Spanish producer Terraverne has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

This contest means a lot to us; we know the demands of the contest itself, and we are proud to be among the best oils in the world.

Andres Garcia Gallego, CEO

Based in Andalusia, the largest olive oil-producing region in the world, the company earned a Gold Award for its medium-intensity 555 Arbequina brand. Terraverne previously earned a Gold Award in 2022.

"This contest means a lot to us; we know the demands of the contest itself, and we are proud to be among the best oils in the world," chief executive Andres Garcia Gallego said.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Terraverne produced 300,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil.

"This campaign has been very hard due to the high temperatures and, above all, due to the low harvest," Garcia said. "It has been difficult to find high-quality fruits to make our oils."

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
