Terraverne Olive Oil Mill Wins Gold at World Competition
Terraverne Olive Oil Mill has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia (Spain) from Picual olives using traditional methods.
"It is our first prize [at the NYIOOC] and I hope it will not be the last," said Andres Garcia, CEO. "For us, it is very exciting to be able to have such an important award. In June we will be at the New York Summer Fancy Food Show and what better way to get there than with a Gold Award in this competition."
Terraverne Olive Oil Mill won a Gold Award for its 555 AOVE, a medium Picual monovarietal produced by Almazara Terraverne in Andalusia, Spain.
The 2021/2022 season had its challenges, Garcia said after receiving news of the award.
"This year the high temperatures and the advance of the harvest marked the beginning, and the global situation marked the end," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
