Tuscan Blend Earns Sogno di Oliva NYIOOC Win
Sogno di Oliva from the United States has won a second consecutive Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
The company earned the award for its homonymous brand, a medium blend crafted from Frantoio, Coratina, Leccino, Moraiolo, Maurino and Pendolino olives.
Bryan Johnson, the owner of the southern Californian company based between San Diego and Los Angeles, said he was "very excited" about the result.
However, he added that the harvest had been a challenge due to the high cost of labor to handpick the olives.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
