Natures Icons Overcomes the Elements to Earn Gold
Greek producer SIA Natures Icons has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We feel so proud once again for earning this Gold Award. It proves our commitment to exceptional quality year after year.
Giorgos Makris, CEO
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Kalamata using traditional methods. SIA Natures Icons earned the Gold Award for its Doleon Greek Premium brand, a medium Koroneiki.
"We feel so proud once again for earning this Gold Award," owner Giorgos Makris said. "It proves our commitment to exceptional quality year after year."
"It means everything to us and is our way to thank our customers for their continuous support," he added. "We are not content with good olive oil. We strive every year for the finest flavor and the utmost superiority in quality for our olive oil."
For the producers behind Natures Icons, there are no easy harvest seasons and 2020 was no exception. Makris cited climate change as one of the biggest challenges facing his operation.
"Every single year is challenging," he said. "Producing one of the world's best olive oils year after year is not a sprint but a marathon."
"The main challenge is climate change," Makris added. "Extreme drought, excessive rain, hailstorms and windstorms are more and more common and can affect harvesting. We are doing everything possible to ensure our unsurpassed quality every year."
