Natures Icons Awarded for Doleon Greek Premium
Natures Icons, from Greece, has won a Gold Award for its Doleon Greek Premium brand, a medium Koroneiki, at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We are so proud and excited about this Gold Award, as Doleon Greek Premium is once again among the best extra virgin olive oils. We are passionately committed to producing unsurpassed high-quality olive oil every year!
George Makris, CEO
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Kalamata using traditional harvesting methods.
"We are so proud and excited with this Gold Award, as Doleon Greek Premium is once again among the best extra virgin olive oils," CEO George Makris said.
"We are passionately committed in producing unsurpassed high-quality olive oil every year," he added.
However, Makris said that this year's triumph did not come easy and a changing climate in Greece is making the harvest more difficult each year.
"The main challenge is climate change," he said. "These last years we have walked on a thin line. Extreme drought, excessive rain, hailstorms and windstorms are more and more common and can affect harvesting."
"We are firm advocates of quality over quantity in our extra virgin olive oil and we are doing everything possible to ensure our exceptional quality year after year," Makris added.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
