The Apulian producer earned its fifth-consecutive Gold Award in New York for its GangaLupo brand, a medium Coratina.
"We are really happy to be able to receive this prestigious award," owner Maria Bisceglie said. "Every year, it is a difficult challenge, and it is never certain to be able to obtain such an important result."
In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 15,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Despite her success, Bisceglie said Italy's severe drought profoundly impacted her ability to produce olive oil this year.
"One of the biggest challenges for us was the drought," she said. "We had to irrigate often to obtain high-quality standards."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
