Based in Istria, the producer earned a Gold Award for its Nono Remiđo, a medium Rosignola. The brand earned Gold Awards in the 2022 and 2021 editions of the competition.
"We feel great about the award we received," owner Damir Vanđelić said. "Excellent awards are a reflection of our hard work and commitment as well as our employees."
"We wouldn't have succeeded without them," he added. "These are incentives for us to continue to try to produce top-quality oils."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Vanđelić produced 8,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
While Croatia enjoyed a bumper harvest this crop year, Vanđelić said he faced many other challenges to produce award-winning olive oil.
"Last harvest lasted a little longer because there were more rainy days, and we are facing the difficulty of finding workers for manual harvesting," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
