OPG Rheos Triumphant in 5th Straight World Competition
Croatian producer OPG Rheos has won a Gold Award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
This is the fifth year in a row that we have won Gold, and we are extremely proud to confirm that our oil is of top quality year after year.
Andrea Brečević, owner
The Istrian producer was awarded for its Premium Brand, a medium-intensity blend of Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino, Istria Buza and Istrian Bjelica olives.
"As every year, we excitedly await the results and hope for Gold," owner Andrea Brečević said. "This is the fifth year in a row that we have won Gold, and we are extremely proud to confirm that our oil is of top quality year after year."
In the 2023/24 crop year, OPG Rheos produced 5,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"Every year has its own challenges, but that is exactly the charm of our job," Brečević said. "Last year was difficult because of the bad weather. It rained a lot right before the harvest, which favored the development of the disease, but we fought through it, and we did a great job, and we saw a result in a perfectly healthy olive fruit."
