Monogram Awarded for Outstanding Organic Blend
Greek producer Monogram has triumphed for the third-straight year at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
This award is a boost to our confidence and validation that Monogram produces one of the best olive oils in the world.
Anastasis Manganas, CEO
The Kalamata-based producer earned a Silver Award for its organic medium blend of Koroneiki and Athinolia olives. Monogram previously earned Gold Awards in 2021 and 2022.
"This is the third year in a row that we win in the NYIOOC," chief executive Anastasis Manganas said. "It is undoubtedly the best acknowledgment and justification for the agony and the hard work that we do at Monogram every single day."
"This award is a boost to our confidence and validation that Monogram produces one of the best olive oils in the world," he added.
In the 2022/23 crop year, Monogram produced between 15 and 17 tons of extra virgin olive oil. Manganas said he plans to convert more of his 6,000-tree groves to organic practices and improve quality.
"It was a very productive year in terms of quality and quantity," he said. "We are in the process of converting some of our olive fields from conventional to organic."
"We already know that there will be a major yield loss in the first year, but in the long run, the soil will get more fertile," Manganas added. "Consumer health and sustainability are our guiding priorities."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
