Markellos Olive Victorious Again at World Competition
Markellos Olive from Greece has won a second-straight award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
Winning a Gold Award at the NYIOOC is very important for us. We are trying to improve the quality of our products every year.

The Peloponnesian producer earned a Gold Award for its Soligea Premium brand, a medium blend, improving from the Silver Award won in 2022.
"Winning a Gold Award at the NYIOOC is very important for us," co-owner Nikolaos Markellos said. "We are trying to improve the quality of our products every year. This award gives us the strength to continue our efforts with even more passion and dedication in extra virgin olive oil production."
For Markellos, the award is even more gratifying after a challenging harvest in the 2022/23 crop year.
"Even if 2022/23 was a very good year for the olive oil sector in Greece, in our region, it was not," he said. "We had a dramatic decrease in production due to lack of water and the hot summer. Nevertheless, we managed to improve the quality of our products, winning a Gold Award this year."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
