Situated in Sicily, the organic farmer earned its second straight World Competition accolade for a medium-intensity Biancolilla.
"We are proud to have received this award in this prestigious competition," said co-owner Sandro Domenico Musso. "It confirms that we are making progress toward producing excellent organic extra virgin olive oil."
In the 2023/24 crop year, Loco Galbasa produced 40,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"Due to the drought, we implemented a green manure technique," Domenico Musso said. "Our centuries-old trees, with their deep roots, were able to access the necessary humidity."
"During the milling, the main challenge was the still summery hot, which we countered by cooling the entire process," he added. "It was an arduous challenge to produce high quality under adverse conditions."
