a year agoBy OOT Staff

Loco Galbasa from Italy has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

We are truly honored by this award. For us, it is confirmation that we have worked well. We are really proud of it, and we are very happy.

Sandro Domenico Musso, co-owner

The Sicilian producer earned a Silver Award for an organic medium-intensity Biancolilla. "We are truly honored by this award," co-owner Sandro Domenico Musso said.

"For us, it is confirmation that we have worked well," he added. "We are really proud of it, and we are very happy."

Domenico Musso said the 2022/23 harvest provided plenty of challenges to produce award-winning extra virgin olive oil.

"The harvest is always demanding to obtain a quality product, and often bad weather makes the work of harvesting even more difficult," he said. "But we never give up."

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
