Great Stories Wins Two Awards at 2023 NYIOOC
Greek producer Great Stories has won two awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
We are excited and proud of winning at the NYIOOC. This distinction reflects the high quality of our products and gives us the strength to keep up the hard work.
Eleftherios Komatas said about the award
Based in Kranidi Argolidas, on the Peloponnese peninsula, the company earned a Gold Award for its delicate 39/22 Koroneiki and a Silver Award for its delicate 39/22 Manaki. Both brands have combined to earn ten awards at the NYIOOC since 2015.
"We are excited and proud of winning at the NYIOOC," owner Eleftherios Komatas said. "This distinction reflects the high quality of our products and gives us the strength to keep up the hard work."
In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 5,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. High prices for production inputs and some bad weather were the main challenges faced by Komatas and his team.
"The difficulties that we faced were the bad weather, mainly in winter and in summer, the high prices of all the supplies and the reduction of the laborers who are engaged in harvesting," he said.
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
