Great Stories Wins With 39/22 Koroneiki
Great Stories, based in Athens, Greece has won a Silver award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are proud and also satisfied with the winning because (for one more year) it proves that our success isn't a firestroke.
Eleftherios Komatas said about the award
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Kranidi Argolidas (Greece) from Koroneiki olives using traditional harvesting methods.
Great Stories owner Eleftherios Komatas acknowledged the difficulties in producing an award-winning brand this season.
"The main problem with the 2019 harvest wasn't the lower productivity that many producers all over Greece had but the higher production costs," Komatas said.
Great Stories won a Silver Award for its 39/22 Koroneiki, a medium-intensity Koroneiki produced in Kranidi Argolidas. It was the second consecutive win for the brand and the fifth award in the last 6 appearances at the international contest.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
