The Tuscan producer earned a Silver Award for its Buraschi Frantoio dal 1966, an organic medium blend. "We are extremely happy to have received this very important award," co-owner Alessandra Buraschi said.
In the 2022/23 crop year, Frantoio Buraschi produced 120,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Buraschi said Italy's ongoing drought made this year's harvest especially challenging.
"2022 was a year in which we suffered a lot from the drought, and it was demanding for the production of olives and for the subsequent production of extra virgin olive oil," she confirmed.
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
