Lamar Olive Oil Ends Bountiful Harvest with NYIOOC Award

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Tunisian-Canadian producer Lamar Olive Oil has been awarded at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The company, which produces olive oil in the Mandia region of Tunisia and sells it outside of Montreal, earned a Silver Award for its Go Natural brand, an organic medium Chetoui.

"This award is really a good support and reference for my company," chief executive Rochdi Lahmar said.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Lamar Olive Oil said it produced 10,000 tons of extra virgin olive oil. While many producers in Tunisia suffered from poor harvests, Lahmar said the harvest in his region went well. "The harvest was good in my region," he confirmed.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
