Entimio Earns Four Golds for Organic Blends
Italian producer Entimio has won four awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Even after many years of attending the NYIOOC, winning a Gold Award is always a fantastic emotional moment. And winning four Gold Awards with four participating olive oils is just amazing.
Daniel Santini, founder
The Tuscan producer earned awards for its Intenso, Distinto, Cortese and Italiano brands, all organic medium blends. Since 2018, Entimio has earned 17 awards at the NYIOOC.
"Even after many years of attending the NYIOOC, winning a Gold Award is always a fantastic emotional moment," founder Daniel Santini said.
"And winning four Gold Awards with four participating olive oils is just amazing," he added. "We share this joy with our producers and partners and dedicate this massive victory to them, who are a vital part of our journey."
Entimio produces organic extra virgin olive oil from Frantoio, Leccio del Corno and Moraiolo olives using traditional methods.
The 2022/23 crop year was marked by significant challenges, the company's founder said after receiving news of the award.
"The elevated temperatures before and during the harvest made it difficult for our millers to optimize for fruitiness and aromas," Santini said. "Special attention to lower the temperature of both olives and olive oil was both necessary and very expensive due to the energy crisis in Europe at the time."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
