Entimio Wins 3 Gold Awards for Tuscan Blends
Entimio from Italy has won three Gold Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Tuscany from Frantoio, Moraiolo, and Leccio del Corno olives using traditional methods.
"We celebrate our fifth year in business and our fifth NYIOOC competition," Daniel Santini, the award-winning producer, told Olive Oil Times. "We are proud to have won awards for five years in a row, and we are excited to celebrate this anniversary with three Gold Awards."
Entimio won Gold Awards for its Entimio Cortese, Entimio Distinto, and Entimio Intenso -- all medium-intensity organic blend.
"This achievement is critical as it coincides with our first year moving to a 100% USDA Certified Organic product line," said Santini.
When asked to look back on the 2021/22 harvest, the producer described an unusual ripening cycle, "which forced us to work smarter in the mill to produce a balanced olive oil with a pleasant fruitiness."
All producers suffered from lower yields and a lack of staffing due to COVID," Santini added. "On the bright side, polyphenols were generally high and free acidity low due to the modest presence of olive fly."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
