Due Fanti Awarded for Sicilian Monovarietal

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Due Fanti has been awarded at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

Winning at the most prestigious international olive oil competition always leaves us full of pride.

Andrew Federico William Langford, CEO

Based in Sicily, the company earned a Gold Award for its Gorgone brand, an organic medium-intensity Crastu. Gorgone was been awarded every year at the NYIOOC since 2020.

"Winning at the most prestigious international olive oil competition always leaves us full of pride and, time after time, strengthens our beliefs that organic and traditional methods of making extra virgin olive oil are the best way to obtain a product of outstanding quality while simultaneously preserving the environment and local traditions," chief executive Andrew Federico William Langford said.

While Langford said the climate was favorable for his trees during the harvest, he faced plenty of challenges due to rising production costs.

"This year, while the climate has been very favorable to our trees, we had to face a challenge tied more to the business side than to the harvest in the form of a sizeable increase in input prices due to the inflationary push," he said.

"We are, however, confident that the top-tier quality of our product will help us overcome this new challenge," Langford added.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
