Mallorca’s Treurer Awarded at World Competition Debut
Spanish producer Treurer has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Winning a Gold Award at the NYOOC in our first participation is very important for us, and we hope it will open doors to the American market.

Based in the Balearic Islands on Mallorca, the company earned a Gold Award for its medium-intensity Arbequina.
"Winning a Gold Award at the NYOOC in our first participation is very important for us, and we hope it will open doors to the American market," owner Miguel Miralles said.
"We are a very small family business focused on quality and process innovation, and this award is a recognition of many years of effort, for which we are very proud," he added.
In the 2022/23 crop year, Treuer used traditional methods to produce 15,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Miralles said high temperatures during the harvest posed the company's most significant challenge.
"This year's harvest has been particularly difficult due to the high temperatures," he said. "We, therefore, decided to start harvesting in the early hours of the morning, stopping at the hottest times of the day so that the heat would not affect the quality of our olive oil."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
