The Turkish company earned a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Deli Dane Blend 11 brand, a medium blend of Edremit olives grown in Ayvalık and Memecik olives grown in the Milas.
Previously the company earned two Silver Awards and a Gold Award with its Deli Dane brand in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
"This award is a validation of our efforts for producing perfect and qualified olive oils," co-owner Nazif Cavusoglu said. "A big family of the world's best olive oil producers compete at the NYIOOC. It is a pleasure to be a member of this family."
In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 40 tons of extra virgin olive oil from olives sourced from Gemlik, Ayvalık, Manisa, Aydın, Muğla and Antakya. However, Cavusoglu said climate change is making the harvest more challenging each year.
"The climate is getting warmer each year," he said. "We had a very dry season with almost no rainfall. Nearby forest fires put our olive groves at risk. We went through challenging days and nights."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
