BVS Jerusalem Wins 2 Gold Awards at 2023 NYIOOC
Israeli producer BVS Jerusalem Olive Oil has won two awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
It is very difficult to win an award once, but even more difficult to maintain the high quality and streak of wins year after year – three years in a row.

The company earned the Gold Awards for its Heart Notes and Sunrise Early Harvest brands, a pair of medium blends, which earned Gold Awards in 2022. Heart Notes also earned a Silver Award in 2021.
"It is a great honor for us to be included among the best in the world," owner Hani Ashkenazi said. "We are excited and happy."
"It is very difficult to win an award once, but even more difficult to maintain the high quality and streak of wins year after year – three years in a row," he added. "This is not taken for granted."
In the 2022/23 crop year, BVS Jerusalem Olive Oil produced 15 tons of extra virgin olive oil. While Israel enjoyed a bumper harvest, Ashkenazi said his initial concern was quality.
"Contrary to most of the world, last season granted Israel a particularly high yield of oil, which made us concerned about the potential for low-quality oil," he said. "Therefore, we dedicated a lot of thought to how to extract the oil correctly. In fact, we achieved excellent results and are very satisfied with the outcome."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
