The Apulian company earned a Gold Award for a medium Biancolilla. Since 2016, Cantasole has earned 11 awards for three of its extra virgin olive oils.
"Winning at the NYIOOC feels like a dream come true and absolute honor," owner Arianna De Marco said. "We couldn’t do it without our team and our family."
"Here there are not only 365 days of love, passion and attention to detail but also hard work and innovation," she added. "We are truly committed to providing a healthy, high-quality extra virgin olive oil, and we are proud to be amongst the world's best again."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Cantasole produced 100 tons of extra virgin olive oil. "The most challenging factor was the warm temperature, especially at the end of October and the start of November," De Marco said.
"The ripening process sped up and resulted in a fast harvest," she added. "We worked every day to bring home high-quality fruits. We cultivate 10 different varieties, and we didn't have the time to harvest them all at their max capacity."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
