Jerusalem Olive Oil Wins 2 Gold Awards at World Competition

3 years agoBy OOT Staff

BVS Jerusalem Olive Oil from Israel has won two Gold Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The producer earned the two awards for a pair of medium blends, its Heart Notes and Sunrise Early Harvest brands.

"We are very excited, these awards are the result of hard work over the years," owner Hani Ashkenazi said. "It is great to receive appreciation and understand that our oil is excellent."

Despite the company's success, Ashkenazi said the 2021 harvest came with plenty of challenges and lower yields than previously hoped.

"The 2021 harvest was challenging as the yield was extremely low compared to previous years," he said. "We had to be creative, think correctly and produce the oil and blends in a way that would be good and sufficient for the whole year."

"Next year seems to be more successful and will surpass the previous year in both crop and olive oil quality," Ashkenazi added.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
