Del Cetino’s Picual Wins Highest Honor at 2023 NYIOOC
Del Cetino, a Belgian-owned family company in Spain, has won its tenth award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
Winning at the NYIOOC is the most important recognition for us. Especially for small producers, it is a unique platform to demonstrate that serious work pays off.

The Anadalusia-based producer earned a Gold Award for a medium Picual. Since 2017, Del Cetino has earned 10 awards for several of its monovarietal extra virgin olive oil brands.
"Winning at the NYIOOC is the most important recognition for us," owner Eddy Plasquy said. "Especially for small producers, it is a unique platform to demonstrate that serious work pays off. And we are a very small and also a very proud producer."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Del Cetino produced 2,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Plasquy said Spain's severe drought made last season a particularly challenging one.
"We confronted a severe drought but managed to use the available water resources in the best possible way," he said. "This saved the harvest in large part."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
