Anteata Frantoio Extends NYIOOC Win Streak with Piro Blend
Anteata Frantoio from Italy has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
Such an honorable recognition from the United States market means a lot to us. Since our oil is so expensive to produce, we need to know there is a market out there for quality extra virgin olive oil.

Located in Tuscany, the company earned its third consecutive Gold Award for the Piro brand, a medium blend. The Da Noi a Voi brand previously earned Gold in 2019 and 2020 as well.
"Such an honorable recognition from the United States market means a lot to us," owner Daniele Lepori said. "Since our oil is so expensive to produce, we need to know there is a market out there for quality extra virgin olive oil."
Despite the company's success, Lepori said the previous harvest brought many challenges, which Anteata Frantoio managed to turn into opportunities.
"The extreme drought this year greatly impacted the quantity of olives," he said. "We had to work with a much lower volume, but we could produce a more qualitative product."
"Our phenolic content skyrocketed, and we managed to extract aromas and flavors never experienced before," Lepori added. "The challenges of 2021 have really turned into great opportunities."
