Roveglio Awarded Gold at World Competition
Italian producer Roveglio has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This award is important for us to try to obtain a premium price, given our small production and continual challenges on the supply side.

Situated in Lombardy, in northern Italy, the company earned its third-ever NYIOOC accolade for a medium blend of Frantoio and Pendolino olives.
"This award is important for us to try to obtain a premium price, given our small production and continual challenges on the supply side," owner Paolo Nazzari di Calabiana Willan said.
"The prestige of the event helps us build brand recognition and differentiate quality," he added.
This year's award is especially gratifying after the three tough harvests the company had endured since winning their last NYIOOC award, a Best in Class for the same oil in 2019.
"Two years ago, we had Cimici Asiatici, which caused a total loss of the crop," he said. "Hail last year damaged tree bark and caused rogna infestation in the bark of most young trees. We had to cut away 40 to 60 percent of the fruiting wood."
"This year was critical to try to climb back into production, but the crop was only a fraction of good years previously have been," Willan added.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
