The Castilla-La Mancha-based producer earned a Gold Award for its Almazara de Alcaraz brand, an organic robust blend.
"We are truly honored to receive the Gold Award," said Gerard Louis, the brand's United-States-based distributor said. "This award will highlight our brand to consumers seeking high-quality oil backed by an authoritative source."
"It is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and craftsmanship behind producing this delectable certified organic and kosher oil," he added.
In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 300 tons of extra virgin olive oil. Louis said Spain's drought made the harvest more challenging and expensive.
"The drought in Spain drove the cost of cultivation up and olive crop production down, resulting in a higher cost of production," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
