Campi Alti
Campi Alti is a single-estate extra virgin olive oil produced by traditional methods. Picked in the late autumn by hand, and brought the same day to the Vanini mill in the town of Lenno, only a few minutes from Roveglio, the olives are cold-pressed in a single, mechanical pressing. The resultant oil has remarkably low acidity, and its tasting notes include almond flavor. It is ideal for dressing salads and vegetables.
Where to Find Roveglio is a small hill farm of about 20 acres owned by a single family since 1880 in the Lenno, Lake Como area. The terraces are generally 45 degrees, and some olive trees are 250 or 300 years old. 95% are Frantoio or unnamed indigenous variety with 5% Pendolino planted for pollination. The land has never been chemically treated. Two oils are made and harvested separately, Campi Alti and Campi Bassi (a DOP), which have a 200 meter altitude difference.
