a year agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Casa Astrid has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

Being recognized as a top extra virgin olive oil makes us so happy for Casa Astrid's team in Umbria.

Jean-Luc Decroo, owner

The Umbria-based company earned a Gold Award for its organic medium-intensity blend of Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo cultivars. Casa Astrid previously earned a Gold Award in 2019 and Silver Award in 2021.

"Being recognized as a top extra virgin olive oil makes us so happy for Casa Astrid's team in Umbria," owner Jean-Luc Decroo said.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Casa Astrid produced 2,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. "Despite a very hot springtime and a shortage of rain, we didn't face any challenge," Decroo added.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
