California’s Twin Rocks Winery Awarded in New York

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Twin Rocks Winery from the United States returned to winning ways at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The northern California producer, located just outside of Sacramento in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, earned a Silver Award for its medium blend of Arbequina, Coratina, Picual and Frantoio olives. The brand previously earned a Gold Award in 2021.

"We are always thrilled and grateful when our oil is appreciated," co-owner James Sehr said of the award.

This year's recognition is particularly gratifying after the difficult climatic conditions California farmers faced in the 2022/23 crop year. "We had an early season freeze, a very hot summer and a drought," Sehr confirmed.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
