Vodice Wins Gold for Oblica at NYIOOC World Competition
Croatian producer Vodice has earned two Gold Awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
This is our fourth year competing and the first time Oblica has won the Gold Award. We feel immensely happy and proud since Oblica is a native variety to our region of Dalmatia.

The Dalmatia-based producer earned two awards for its Sv. Ivan brands, including an organic medium Oblica and an organic robust blend.
"This is our fourth year competing and the first time Oblica has won the Gold Award," owner Tomislav Duvnjak said. "We feel immensely happy and proud since Oblica is a native variety to our region of Dalmatia."
Duvnjak's Oblica earned consecutive Silver Awards from 2020 to 2022, while his blend earned Gold Awards in 2020 and 2021 and a Silver Award in 2022.
In the 2022/23 crop year, using traditional methods, Vodice produced six tons of extra virgin olive oil from Oblica, Frantoio, Leccino and Levantinka olives.
Duvnjak, who is widely credited for organizing Dalmatian producers to send their oils to the NYIOOC, said the intense drought in the region made this harvest one of his toughest yet.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
