Umbria’s La Madonnuccia Triumphs in New York
Italian producer La Madonnuccia has earned the industry's highest accolade at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
The acknowledgment from the panel of the NYIOOC confirms the validity of our sustainable method of management of the farm. Besides making high quality, we aim to safeguard our territory and keep it pristine.

The Umbrian producer received a Gold Award for an organic medium blend of Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccio del Corno olives.
"I am more than happy to receive this recognition, especially since we are a small company," owner Massimo Romiti said.
"The acknowledgment from the panel of the NYIOOC confirms the validity of our sustainable method of management of the farm," he added. "Besides making high quality, we aim to safeguard our territory and keep it pristine."
Despite the company's success in New York, Romiti said the 2022/23 crop year was a challenging one due to long periods of drought. However, timely rain saved the season.
"Last year, we had a strong drought from May to August, but, finally, in September, some good rains allowed the fruits to recover, and we managed to obtain a satisfying production," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
