Located in Calabria, the second-largest olive oil-producing region in Italy, the family company earned its third award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest for a medium Carolea.
"It’s very humbling and rewarding to receive such a prestigious award from the top olive oil experts in the world," co-owner Joe Maruca said. TRE Olive previously earned a Gold and Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC.
"Our team in Italy and the United States are committed to producing a premium extra virgin olive oil for our customers and this award validates all the hard work and commitment it takes to do so," he added.
For the producers behind TRE Olive, this year's award is even more meaningful after facing several climatic challenges throughout the year.
"Overall, it was an excellent harvest, but at the beginning, it was very dry with drought-like conditions in our area, which was positive for preventing the presence of olive flies," Maruca said.
"Fortunately, we got some much-needed rain in early October, which was beneficial," he added. "Optimal conditions were delayed by several weeks but results were excellent overall."
