The Apulian producer at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition earned its third World Competition accolade for its organic medium-intensity Coratina.
"Getting valuable recognition in the United States confirms that we are doing a good job and pushes us to make ourselves known more in this country by restaurants, small importers and specialty shops," said owner Vincenzo Lobascio.
This year's award was especially gratifying after extreme weather events complicated the harvest in Puglia, Italy's most significant olive oil-producing region.
"We face various challenges on a daily basis: that of climate change is fundamental, let's not call it bad weather, it's sudden changes in temperature (too cold, then immediately too hot) that are not easy to manage," he said. "Consider that olive trees have always been used to surviving in the mild Mediterranean climate."
