Tèra de Prie from Italy has won a Silver Award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This award confirms that we are doing a good job. We can always improve ourselves, but we depend a lot on nature.
Nicola Ferrarese, owner
The Ligurian producer won the award at the 2024 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for an organic delicate Taggiasca. The brand previously earned a Gold Award in 2021 and a Silver Award in 2023.
"This award confirms that we are doing a good job," said owner Nicola Ferrarese. We can always improve ourselves, but we depend a lot on nature."
In the 2023/24 crop year, Tèra de Prie produced 1,400 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"Due to the drought, we had a very limited quantity of olives; the trees suffered heavy fruit drop," Ferrarese said. "A short rainy period immediately before harvesting has, in our opinion, averted quality defects. If the quantity was reduced, the quality satisfied us very much."
