Stancija St. Antonio Triumphs at NYIOOC
Croatian producer Stancija St. Antonio has won a Gold and Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We expected similar results because this is not our first time in the competition. We want to find a distributor for the U.S. market and we think winning at the NYIOOC might make that job easier for us.
Marijan Marjanović, CEO
The company earned the Gold Award for an organic medium Istrian Bjelica and the Silver Award for an organic delicate Karbonaca.
"We expected similar results because this is not our first time in the competition," CEO Marijan Marjanović said. "We want to find a distributor for the U.S. market and we think winning at the NYIOOC might make that job easier for us."
In the 2019/20 season, Stancija St. Antonio produced 14,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Marjanović said that 2019 was a very good year for the company and hopes to be able to emulate the success in the future.
"The harvest was great for us, we have 10-year-old trees that yield more and more olives every year," he said. "We had pest problems that we were able to control in time. We have never had a better year and we want it to continue like that."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
