Stancija San Antonio Wins Two Gold Awards in New York

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Croatia's Stancija San Antonio has won two awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

Winning at the NYIOOC is a confirmation of the quality of our San Antonio organic extra virgin olive oil and that we are on the right path.

Marijan Marjanović, CEO

The Istrian producer earned two Gold Awards for an organic robust Istrian Bjelica and a medium-intensity blend. Chief executive Marijan Marjanović said the company had been awarded at the NYIOOC each year since 2013.

Winning at the NYIOOC is a confirmation of the quality of our San Antonio organic extra virgin olive oil and that we are on the right path," he said. "It also is a great indicator for our customers, so they can be sure they are buying the best product."

In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 20,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"San Antonio's olive groves are irrigated, so we didn't have any loss from severe drought in Croatia," Marjanović said. "Owning a mill, harvest is the most intensive period."

"Single varieties are harvested by hand, blended with manual shakers," he added. "Last year showed us that irrigation is necessary to achieve high-quality extra virgin olive oil, especially in organic production."

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
