Eva Marija Čurin Strikes Gold in New York
Croatian producer OPG Curin Eva Marija has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This award confirms that we are doing well and are going in the right direction. We are very happy that our oil is recognizable to consumers, which is why we are working even harder.

The family producer earned its third-consecutive NYIOOC accolade for its Seca Ekstra brand, an organic delicate blend of Oblica, Lastavka, Leccino and Levantinka olives.
"Every award is welcome," owner Eva Marija Čurin said. "The whole family is very happy and proud and this award confirms that we are doing well and are going in the right direction."
"We are very happy that our oil is recognizable to consumers, which is why we are working even harder," she added.
In the 2021/22 crop year, the family farm produced 2,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Čurin said the award is particularly gratifying after the family struggled against the elements to grow and harvest their olives.
"We live in a very strange time," she said. "Nature and the climate change from day to day. Last year, was very demanding due to a very cold winter with below-freezing temperatures and very dry summer."
"The amount of oil was smaller but very high quality, which can be seen by winning the award," Čurin added.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
