San Miguel Olive Farm Wins 5 Awards at 2022 NYIOOC
San Miguel Olive Farm from the United States has won two Gold and three Silver Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
"We felt great after the win," Richard and Myrna Meisler said after extending their impressive winning streak at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in California from a blend of, Koroneiki, Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino, Maurino olives.
"Success from our hard work will show for years to come," the Meislers told Olive Oil Times. "The NYIOOC has been a solid foundation for our business and the awards are the living proof that our oils are among the world's best olive oils. Next year can't come soon enough. Passion is the secret word."
The farmers and olive oil producers managed to earn the industry's most coveted awards after a particularly challenging harvest season.
"We were very fortunate to hire a crew of 30 harvesters. plus family and friends," the Meislers noted. "We underestimated the size of our crop which created three days of harvesting and more expense."
San Miguel Olive Farm won Gold Awards for three blends of varying intensities: the delicate Tuscan Gold Magnifico, the medium-intensity Tuscan Gold Tuscaneiki, and the robust Tuscan Gold Paradiso.
They earned Silver Awards for two medium blends, Tuscan Gold Eleganza Elite and Tuscan Gold Fantastico.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
