Frantoio Bonamini Wins Gold at World Competition
Frantoio Bonamini from Italy has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Veneto (Italy) using intensive farming methods.
Frantoio Bonamini won for its Vert De Vertes, a medium blend.
Winning again at the NYIOOC couldn't make us prouder than we already feel. It's such an honour for us.
Sabrina Bonamini, owner
"Having the chance to see that our final product perfectly reflects all our hard work, our love and passion, our precision in the harvest and production has no price at all," Sabrina Bonamini told Olive Oil Times. "Being awarded such an important award, it's just beyond words."
The 2021/2022 season posed significant challenges, Bonamini noted, when asked about the road to the winning result.
The harvest was definitely a challenge for many of us here in our area.," she said. "This year it was a small and kind of 'poor' harvest. But thanks to the hard work we've put into caring for our trees and the fact that we decided to switch to a 4.0 technology (a pretty big deal here in Italy), things weren't that bad after all."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
