San Miguel Olive Farm Triumphs Again at World Competition
San Miguel Olive Farm from the United States continued its winning ways at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We eagerly checked each morning, and then, there they were. Three Gold Awards. Hearts pounding, we high-fived three times. We're beyond excited.

The Central California producer earned three Gold Awards for a trio of medium blends: Tuscan Gold Paradiso, Tuscan Gold Fantastico and Tuscan Gold Eleganza.
"We eagerly checked each morning, and then, there they were. Three Gold Awards," owners Richard and Myrna Meisler said. "Hearts pounding, we high-fived three times. We're beyond excited."
"This recognition gives meaning to the love and care we have in farming and producing our olive oil," they added. "Nineteen awards from the NYIOOC since 2018 have given credence to what we work hard to achieve – premium extra virgin olive oil."
The couple uses traditional methods to produce extra virgin olive oil from 1,200 Frantoio, Leccino and Maurino trees in San Luis Obispo County.
The awards come as a welcome reprieve after a challenging harvest. "We had weather challenges, which reduced our crop to 40 percent of our normal production," the Meislers said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
