a year agoBy OOT Staff

Bilić Olive Oil from Croatia triumphed with the company's first entry at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

I felt excited, happy and elated because I confirmed the quality of my oil and the success of my work and effort.

Mile Bilić, owner

The Dalmatian producer earned a Gold Award for its Bilić Blend brand, an organic medium blend of Leccino, Oblica and Oliva Grossa olives.

"I felt excited, happy and elated because I confirmed the quality of my oil and the success of my work and effort," owner Mile Bilić said.

"For the company, this means entering the market of the best oils in the world and the satisfaction of my whole family," he added.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Bilić produced 300 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"The biggest challenge we faced was a dry summer without rain," he said. "We watered the olive trees often. The harvest went without major problems, and the family helped the most.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
