Winning at NYIOOC is the ultimate goal every year. This award is the best reward for the hard work we have been putting in the last years and a huge confidence boost to work even harder in the future.
Georgios Karelas, co-owner
The Kalamata-based producer earned its first-ever award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for a delicate Koroneiki.
"Winning at NYIOOC is the ultimate goal every year," Karelas said. "This award is the best reward for the hard work we have been putting in the last years and a huge confidence boost to work even harder in the future."
Despite the success, Karelas said this year's yield was impacted by the region's dry weather.
"The low rainfall this year resulted in a reduced yield," he said. "However, on the plus side, the olive oil this year had more intense characteristics."
